Five girls gather together, each drawn from a different angle. They bathe in what looks like a shared shower. This group is reminiscent of the five women from Picasso's Avignon Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1906 - 1907).
Picasso's work was scandalous at the time due to the techniques he used. To me, the scandal is in the poses he painted them in. Their position is rigid and forced.
This is in contrast to Gold's painting here, in which the girls were captured in a more natural and liberated movement; in a composition that respects them, and their exposed body.
