At first glance this vivid scenery is filled with colorful details. The eye wanders from mountains slashed by painfully beautiful splashes of paint, to impossible water streams interchanging shades. Then the eye is drawn to a dark silhouette, and it soon transpires that all that surrounds it is lifeless.
It feels as though the life in this painting is drained into this one movement of the body, the gesture of spreading the sheet on the ground. Once the sheet is laid down, it will be still again, and it will become part of the imaginary restless scenery.
