Yael Belaban

In this work, by drawing stitch after stitch a landscape emerges, only in this case the stitches are ink lines and the landscape is imaginary. In a way it can be said that Yael Belaban combines arts and crafts by developing her unique technique. These repetitive lines, curved again and again almost in an obsessive way, reminding me in of automatic drawing, the surrealists were mentioning: automatic drawing which brings up the subconscious and the hand is driven under free association. Also here the artist lets her hand lead her through the white paper, enveloping non existing spaces.
