Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Graduation exhibition. Eveline Vondeling took the process on “How to become a Barbarian” very serious: she combined sound tracks, performance, installation, text, video art work and even fashion design in her work.  As a barbarian myself I can say, It takes a lot of effort to become one.
The need of understanding things by categorizing is a known way. Like Kader Attia in the last Documenta, also here the artist distributes plenty of objects on shelves and pedestals, putting in order different materials to help the non- barbarian viewer, all visitors of the graduation exhibition,  to understand better “How to become a Barbarian”.
