Artist Emile Zile says about himself: “I am a monk. I am a tourist. Within the street I see the stage for every human conflict and negotiation”. In his film Tak Bat you could really see it while he captures the daily ritual of giving food to the Buddhist monks in Seoul. This ritual created others: a ritual of tourism, a ritual of poor children looking for food, a ritual of locals who watching all rituals etc. The artist identifies himself with all of them in such a way, that none of them becomes more important and no one becomes exotic.
