About the exhibition:
A series of meetings shrouded in a smell of spices and aromas from afar, cigarette smoke and forgotten family photos led to the collaboration: Memories of Places which I have never Visited. An exhibition which juxtaposes visual and literal stories of the artist Atousa Bandeh Ghiasabadi and the curator Ronit Eden.
Bandeh Ghiasabadi born in Iran, Eden, from Iranian origin, born in Israel, both working and living in Amsterdam, both living between two places. Each one of them carrying her own memories, but Iran is what they have in common. Eden’s repressed memories, started to float and became articulated in her words when she faced Bandeh Ghiasabadi’s large colorful sheets. In these colorful drawings Bandeh Ghiasabadi created a complete universe: lines arose, intertwining and winding amidst figures, encircling ripe fruits and green hills. Mustached men and long-haired women alongside children playing in yards with colorful vegetation.
